This was my very first design studio. My professor, Stefano Passeri, handed us each a different historical Italian building. We were told to study it, and document any interesting shapes or recurring items. That is how I created the first series of drawings.
We then selected a specific portion of our drawings, and extruded the shape up, to teach us how to both work in three dimensions in Rhino V5. We then were instructed to digitally cut holes into our model, and then construct the model. A laser cutter was sued to cut the shapes evenly.
I was finally able to take that extruded shape and turn it into an inhabitable shape. To get the patterning used for the walls and windows, I layered the laser cut file over and over onto the plan of the model. The final project was the one specific “inhabitable space” repeated on top of one another.
